I'm looking for folks' preferences for burning data (as opposed to video) DVDs.

I need to back up still camera photos and other types of computer files.

I'm curious as to what software preferences are out there.

Thanks.

So called 'video DVD'-s are actually standard burnable discs.

There is couple free program available, f.i. Deep Burner.

Is there any reason why Deep Burner couldn't also be used to burn a video DVD if one already had the TS_AUDIO and TS_VIDEO directories on ones hardrive?

Video DVD must have UDF format. It's not supported currently by Deep Burner.

for images (iso, img etc) the choice is very clear - Alcohol 120%

for data off your hard drive..
ONES (Optical New Edge Storage) is very good, if a little buggy

RecordNow MAX is excellent (I use it for VIDEO_TS as well, supposedly it creates some of the most compatible dvd's possible) but a little problematic to install (you need to update the PX engine with some dll's for it to recognize your drive with correct writing speeds)

I genreally resent NERO, it's heavy, full of useless features and tends to hang my system
