I have a Sony DRU-510A in my desktop PC running XP Pro SP2. I used to burn DVD for home video using TDK 4X DVD-R and Nero 6. Both the media and the drive work fine and I have successfully burnt about 50 DVD-R with them. Recently, I have difficulty buying 4X TDK media so I tried the 8X TDK. But it failed even if I burn with 4X speed. Nero said that there was "Power calibration error".
I have download the latest (1.1a) firmware from Sony site and upgrade the driver. But this didn't help. Is there any way to make the drive works in 4X speed with 8X TDK DVD-R? If not, what 8X DVD-R can I use (it is very difficult to find 4X media in the market now)? I only need to burn in 4X speed since this is the max of the drive. I expect burning in lower speed then the media should be ok, but it failed.
