You can't save the settings into an external file currently other then exporting and importing the registry key.
I wonder why you would need that anyways, XviD remembers it's settings. They get only reset with a new installation or when you hit "load defaults".

In my mind when i find "my best settings" i always want to store them in a "safety" place to quickly restore them when i need after some tests.I've got a standalone player and i don't know exactly if some xvid features are supported or not.
Which is the registry key?

\\HKCU\Software\GNU\XviD
Between different releases the keys in there can vary, so a xvid-1.0-tree isn't compatible with XviD-1.1 and it will sure mess up your encode if try to use the registry keys that way anyways. You have been warned.

Has there been any talk amongst you core developers of adding a configuration interface to the DirectShow filter? Something like an advanced IAMVideoCompression interface that lets a developer set the various properties for the encoding session without overwriting the defaults in the registry?
