Hi Jean,

I am sure you can fill in during 2COOL's absence regarding Jump2pgc:

For the 1st time after numerous backups it failed to work at this instance. There are 2 more dummy pgc jumps to the main menu after the root menu, so this Jump2pgc did not work understandably...tip for a workaround?

Actually, at this point, Blutach knows more than me about jump2pgc! But I'll try to help. You'll need to give us a bit more precision, I'm not sure I understand.

What do you mean by that? Are you trying to go to the movie, or to go to the main menu? Can you elaborate a bit?

Destination: the main menu.

Normally so far, if the root menu's a dummy then the next jump is quite often to the main menu. Well, this new movie, The Final Cut, has 2 more jumps after the dummy root menu before reaching the main menu page. PGC's trace function did not seem have "gathered" enough info in the clip board for the pasting to the main menu. I'm recalling "blind" from work at the moment. Hope this is clearer?

P.S. Let me make up a scenario:

entering VTSM 1 en lu 1 root menu
blah
blah
blah
entering VTSM 1 en lu 6
blah blah blah
entering VTSM 1 en lu 14
blah blah blah
entering VTSM 1 en lu 29 (4 buttons)

OK I get it, I've never seen that before, you're right, usually the next jump is to the "real" menu. OK.
Normally, in such cases, you:
- Jump from First Play to root menu (a dummy menu),
- and from there jump again to the "real" menu (another PGC in the same VTS).

What prevents you in step 2 above, from jumping to the right destination PGC? That should work, right?
Is it because it's not in the same VTS?

Hi surf.

Can you upload or email me the IFOs? I'll take a quick look and fix them and see if it's a JMP2PGC issue or not.

One thing you might try (a cunning plan as Baldrick would say!) If you haven't run out of "defined named menus" in VTSM1, call VTSM 29 the angle menu say (or anything that's NOT a named menu). Then in JMP2PGC, you could say in the right hand panel, jump to angle menu instead of root menu. You still put a trace stop before playback in VTSM 1,29.

sorry, I meant step 2 in my post (i.e., when you piggy back from the dummy root menu to the actual target one)...
But if you have to jump to another VTS, then it won't work (you can't jump from VTS to VTS, as you know).

Jean In a properly authored DVD, that couldn't happen - as we know, it would have to jump through VMGM and land in another VTS to begin with. So, I think your method and JMP2PGC is safe on this aspect.

Blu, you're a genius in providing the workaround solution. It was never a glitch of jump2pgc but rather the movie is un-usually authored, that all. One more thing the jump was sucessful in reaching the main menu. However when I clicked the play button, the trace log shows a few more pre-command activities and then "target not found"...

I will report back tomorrow with....
