Hi all. I know that in order to use css on dvd's i must pay an anually fee of $10000 to CSS.
What about macrovision? Is it free or not?
Thanx in advance.

It is not free - contact macrovision for licensing information. (www.macrovision.com)
In order to use macrovision you must use css. btw - both css and macrovision are totally ineffective and will not prevent unauthorized reproduction and sale (aka pirating). Ask Macrovision for a gaurantee!

I know that its worthless but i wanna know the procedure.
Please correct me if i am wrong.

For the CSS encyption the replication factory is the one who should be licensed and not the authoring house.
But is it the same for Macrovision ACP also?
Thanx.

I believe Macrovision sells the license between them and the distributor, not them and the authoring / post house.

They will offer a per unit rate based on the number of units the distributor is producing. The authoring house are just asked to volunteer the titles and distributors it has enabled Macrovision for.
