Disable Autoplay

Could someone tell me how to disable autoplay in xp (pro)
Other then right clicking on drive properties..

Disable AutoPlay

Tip: To disable AutoPlay just for a certain CD, hold down the "Shift" key while inserting a CD.

1. Right-click the My Computer icon from the Desktop.

2. Click the "Device Manager" tab.

3. Click the "+" sign next to the "CDROM" text in the list.

4. Click the item that is displayed below the "CDROM" text.

Tip: If more than one CD-ROM drive is displayed when you click the "+" sign, click the CD drive that you use. Click the drive that you use when you place CDs into your computer.

5. Click the "Properties" button.

6. Click the "Settings" tab.

7. Uncheck the "Auto insert notification" check box.

Tip: To enable AutoPlay again, just check the "Auto insert notification" check box again.

8. Click OK.

9. Click OK.

@niamh: That doesn't work in XP Pro, because there's no "auto-insert notification" box anymore.

Other than? :confused:

Right clicking on drive properties is correct (you'll see an AutoPlay tab). I don't know another way...

Thanks anyway ...I knew there wasn't a "Auto insert notification" in pro..I'll just have to hold down shift key,Which does not alway's work !!

Customize autoplay settings: open My Computer, right click the drive you want to customize, select properties, then autoplay.

What's wrong with what MutLover suggested?

"Customize autoplay settings: open My Computer, right click the drive you want to customize, select properties, then autoplay."

After this, one has only this to do: Click Select an action to perform > Click Take no action.
