I am having trouble opening an m2v file that HC as just finished encoding

I used a 10MB AVI then used HC to encode it to a 24MB MPEG2 file, HC also gave me a 29MB DBS file, what is this?

None of the files will open either in real player, windows media or g-spot

If I attempt to open it in Tmpgenc I get an 'illegal mpeg' message

Is m2v the same as MPEG2?, if I click the files properties it says MPEG, I take it they are the same?

Here is the log, if anyone can help I would be gratefull especially as I have now strated to get to grips with avisynth scripts etc and the HC encoder

HC is an MPEG2 video-only encoder.
The files created are:
1. a DBS file = video clip information database created during first pass of encoding.
2. an M2V file (=MPEG2 Video) - a video-only enlementary stream file.

To create a file to author a DVD or SVCD from, you need to multiplex it.
I can go into more detail of how but could you clarify one thing before I do - you say you have tried to open it in TMPGEnc. There are several products under this name:
TMPGEnc Plus
TMPGEnc Source Creator
TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Which was it you were trying to open it with and which ones of the above do you have on your PC?

Also, could you post your Avisynth script file as this may hold the key to what (if anything) went wrong with the HC process.

Hi, I have tried to open it in Tmpgenc 2.542 (the free one with the 30 day trial)

Here is my avisynthscript

DirectShowSource("D:\MISCELENEOUS PORN\arnoldclassicvideo.avi")

Converttoyv12()

Also it wont open in VitualDubMod it just gives me this message:

MPEG File Parser: couldnt determine MPEG type

Any ideas?
