ripping part of my dvd for show reel

Hi folks from sunny Australia. This is my first post.
Can some one explain how I could rip 5 minutes or so off a series of DVDs I have made.
I want to make a "show reel" of my work to send to buddies overseas.
some one suggested Shrink but I cant figure out how.
There must be a better way.

BTW are you sending them to people in NTSC land?
