Hi

Can someone please give me an idiots guide to generating mpeg files from my DVD's (preferably using freeware?. Links to programs would be appreciated.

I have dvd decrypter already installed but cannot find a way of doing it using this.

Cheers

You need to be more precise about what you want. DVDs are already encoded in MPEG (1/2) - just muxed into VOB files.
Also follow the forum rules:
- read the guides (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/guides.htm)
- search (http://forum.doom9.org/search.php?s=) the forum

Sorry for not been clear.

I want to be able to put a dvd video in my computer and "extract" the main movie as an mpeg file.

I have used DVDdecrypter before but I am lost with all the vob/ifo business etc.

Use Dvddecrypter in file mode and select the option not to split the file into 1gb sections. Click on "main movie only" and rip to your hard drive. Rename the main movie extension from .vob to .mpg
