filtering a very bad source

hi,

i'm trying to filter a very bad source of a 20 year old selfmade holiday-film.

here's a screenie:

how can i filter these black streaks? i already tried with descratch and lots of different smoothers - nothing worked the way i'd like to...

that could be a case of bad tracking. did you mess with tracking before you capped this? it's possible (though i don't know how likely) that this will clean a lot of that up.

You might want to try another VCR. The black streaks are from inproper FM encoder or FM demodulation of the recorded signal on the tape.

If it's encoded, there zero that can be done. Also crappy C band satellite receivers produced this pattern.

hi @all,

using another VCR won't help. this one was recorded on a tape with another video on it an that one doesn't have all these black streaks.

as information. this film was recorded 20 years ago an has now been re-recorded in a very native way: projected on a wall it was newly filmed with a s-vhs-cam.

i don't know, if the 20 year old source already has these streaks...

is it possible to blend the black lines?

S-VHS Cam you said?

then play it back under usage of the recording Cam.

are you using a adapter-cassete to play it back on your VCR?

S-VHS is NOT backwards compatible to VHS causing those lines!
