Hey guys, I am having a very weird problem.

I created a 4400MB xvid from an HD source and it will not pay in WMP. All of my other xvids play fine (mind you, they are all smaller). This file will however, play in VLC.

When I run it through GSpot, it shows as having 4 installed codecs to play back the video, and 2 to play back the audio. When I run it through the renderer, it finds a proper codec for the audio just fine. However, for the video it errors out. This is the error;

"Some of the streams in this movie are in an unsupported format."

The other weird anomaly is that the video file size (detected by GSpot) is only 2GB instead of the 4.4GB.

How do I get WMP to play back this file properly?

Thanks!

Has something to do with the codecs installed on your system. I had same problem, my option was having only the necessary codecs, I got the AC3 one from Nimo Codec pack and the MPEG etc from this setup file. I only have these that I have installed manually.

I have noticed if I install certain other video / audio codecs, some errors may occur in WMP.

Which Xvid codec are you using? I don't think it's the AC3 decoder since Gspot is saying it's the video codec that can't be found.

Its a known fact that WMP can't/have issues when play AVIs larger than 2Gb. Use another player. (and search the forum as well!)

Ya, I did... but I don't think search skills are upto par ;)

Thanks for the recommendation, I also discovered this fact while researching my problem.

Appreciate the reply in any case len0x!
