All I can say is try Auto GK 1.60 which is stable and not these betas, if you try the betas dont complain about errors, after all thats what betas are for. Not trying to be harsh, no hard feelings.

Hi

The 5-day probation rule was created for a purpose. It is for the members of the forum to uphold forum rules. We have all gone thru such restrictions.

It is unfortunate if we help someone go past these rules.

No offence meant to Momir 2004, of course. And advance welcome to shabx81.

Regards.

Len0x is not angry. Only frustrated. The FAQ is a body of work that has grown over time, and naturally, the developer of the excellent AGK expects that if one chooses to use his labor of love one should at least have the courtesy to go through the documentation and use it with some degree of respect. Just using it haphazardly indicated a certain degree of indifference, which we all think Len0x, or any other freeware developer for that matter, can do without.

LOL. well I got 1.60 and works a charm. Dont need to update really.

I can do all the things I need to do without errors, the files are good enough to be then mpeg encoded ready to be put onto a DVD.

And just to underline what ukb008 already mentioned about the forum rules. Please don't forget to follow rule 9!

I beg you pardon?

OK, how about this one: I've recently upgraded to 1.95 and beta 2.01. Uninstalled everything (including DivX codec) before doing so. Reinstalled everything fresh, got several perfect Xvid encodes. Now I'm getting the dreaded "range check error" quite frequently. I uninstall/reinstall per the FAQ post and it keeps coming back. Any tips? Thanks.

Maybe visiontwist will draft a sample decent FAQ and post for all of us to feel relieved of the drudgery of having to use the old FAQ and use a vastly improved one in preference to the shabby one that the AGK's developer has been pouring blood and sweat over?

And if I were brownstem, I'd revert back to 1.95 (the stable one) from the 2.01 (which is a beta).

Regards.

hey lenOx..

I'm the one with this annoying 'range check error'.. I had already read the FAQ and did exactly what it says.. but I still get the error.. The root of my error lies in VirtualDub.. this is what I get in the VirtualDub log..

''Couldn't locate decompressor for format YV12 (unknown)

VirtualDub requires a video for windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player are not suitable. Only 'Direct Stream Copy' is available for this video''

anyone with some suggestions??

peace

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

When you install XviD or DivX, they will assign the fourcc code "YV12" to themselves. That association appears to be missing. I don't know which codec you are using, but I recommend removing and reinstalling XviD or DivX.

Deja Vu, see http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=92775

Hi.

As jggimi has said elsewhere:

1. Try to fix something only if it's broken. Never otherwise.
2. There are so many other things to worry about, like going bald. (Boy, that one struck a chord close to my heart.)

In my computer, VDubMod Compression window has XviD appearing twice: onece with YV12, and again with XviD.

If anything is the matter, it's probably safer to uninstall evry related thing, like the mpeg4 codecs and AGK with associated programs, restart, and reinstall AGK. That should fix the issue.

Regards.

ukb? I think you meant to post that reply in http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=92775 rather than here.

If so, I can move it there. Just let me know.

The discussions do overlap. To move or not to move is, of course, your decision. I'll just learn it, know it, and live with it.

Regards.
