Hi,

I've just rebuild a dvd with dvdrb 0.79, and i discovered something strange with the output.

I can't move forward or backward anymore in the movie.
On a pc or a stand alone player, the image freeze when I tried to go to a specific position.

This is not a important problem since I can still move to next/previous chapter, but if I can fix it ...

If it can help ... I've done some pre-processing with vobblanker but i had still the ability to move in the movie after this. Also, I used RBOpt (0.17).

Thx >_<

Movie : Candidate for Goddess (Anime) DVD1
Zone : Z2 (French version)
Encoder : CCE 2.67
Settings : Rb-Opt Animation Settings + Quality Prec = 28
pre-processing : deleted logos, adds, trailers, and opening/ending/previews to just leave the first episode's opening and the last ending.

New elements since yesterday, If I open temporary video files after encode (m2v files) I can still move freely.
If I open directly one of the VOB output files, It also worked.
But If I open the mouvie with PowerDVD or MPC as a DVD (so I guess via VIDEO_TS.IFO) and try to move to another moment in an episode, the image freeze, and the sound continue where I choose to go to.

I've just launched an encode without using rb-opt, and will see what differences it will make.

Have you tried it without preprocessing -- direct from the original source?

This will be the tomorrow test (it's 11:30pm in France ^_^).
I haven't tried this one yet since the feature was still here when I tried with the modified sources just after preprocessing.

The test without Rb-Opt didn't change anything.

Indeed, the probleme doesn't rise without pre-processing (strange since it didn't happened just after the pre-processing).

I already know your answer, so I'll turn my tongue seven times from now, before asking for help ;p

ps : I prefer not to be able to move in the movie than doing post-processing >_<

First time posting in RB threads, i have to say great job your doing Jdobbs and thanks for all the hard work you put into this. I have steadily been increasing my usage of RB with CCE as the versions keep improving so keep it up!

I have seen this kind of behavior a couple of times without preprocessing, however, i wasn't happy with the encode and deleted it before burning and testing on a standalone. Also i've been jumping between different versions of CCE of late so that may have been an issue too. I know it happened last week with .79 but i forget which CCE i tried. I'm going to do a couple of encodes this weekend and i'll check those out to see if i notice anything strange like that with powerdvd again and report back.

My encodes were fabulous this weekend. No problems whatsoever using RB .80 (free) and cce 2.67. Keep it up! ;).

I've got the same problem with only difference, that I can't move in the movie before encode, may be due to defective authoring. (I've got as a set of files, I didn't rip it.)
Can it be repaired somehow?

1. Is it a prohibited user operation (PUO)?
2. Have you tried it on a standalone player? There are many bugs/oddities that are reported in some software players.

IFOEdit have not found any PUOs in VIDEO_TS.IFO and others IFOs.
2. Have you tried it on a standalone player? There are many bugs/oddities that are reported in some software players.
The software players I use is PowerDVD 7.3
I'll try it on a standalone player today.

Rebuild the time maps with PgcEdit. Also, check VOB PUOps - you can change these, too with the PUO plugin to PgcEdit.

I checked it on a standalone player, there were no problems switching between chapters or playing at 2x speed (or higher).

I followed your instructions. PgcEdit disovered that:

-------------------- VTS 2 --------------------
********** WARNING: 1 VTS_TMAP tables defined in VTS_TMAPTI for 2 PGCs!
VTST 2 , 1 TTN 1 (1:08:42) Title 2 (non-sequential title)
1373 x 3 seconds = 1:08:39
VTST 2 , 2 TTN 1 (1:08:42) (non-sequential title)
********** WARNING: No TMAP table defined for PGC 2!
-------------------- VTS 3 --------------------
********** WARNING: 1 VTS_TMAP tables defined in VTS_TMAPTI for 2 PGCs!
VTST 3 , 1 TTN 1 (1:09:03) Title 3 (non-sequential title)
1380 x 3 seconds = 1:09:00
VTST 3 , 2 TTN 1 (1:09:03) (non-sequential title)
********** WARNING: No TMAP table defined for PGC 2!
------------------- Summary -------------------
VTST 2 , 2 TTN 1 (1:08:42): No TMAP!
VTST 3 , 2 TTN 1 (1:09:03): No TMAP!

Nevertheless, rebuilding time maps and checking PUOs in VOBs didn’t help. I tried to play saved DVD with PowerDVD (time slider remained inaccessible) and Media Player Classic (strange behavior, when I clicked somewhere on a time slider, marker jumped back to someplace near beginning of the movie, and time of the played scene indicated wrong)
Since it is not very significant for standalone player, may be I should just ignore that.
Thanks for help.

Not one-seqiential titles are not supposed to be able to seek. Some players (obviously yours won't allow it). Others do.
