I'm using AutoGK to archive some cartoons ripped from my Sat's PVR HDD. The sources are DVB files with a res of 544x480. I use MPEG2VCR to chop out the commercials. Most files usually are FILM, but every now and then, depending on where I decide to to my edits, I can end up with one of two hybrid thresholds.

[3/27/2005 12:58:54 PM] Source is considered to be hybrid (mostly FILM).
[3/27/2005 12:58:54 PM] Looking for optimal hybrid thresholds.
[3/27/2005 12:59:03 PM] Found threshold of: 1.68

or
(same file editted to start one partial frame later)

[3/27/2005 1:03:33 PM] Source is considered to be hybrid (mostly FILM).
[3/27/2005 1:03:33 PM] Looking for optimal hybrid thresholds.
[3/27/2005 1:03:43 PM] Found threshold of: 1.93

Which of these two should I use for my final version. Is the higher threshold better or is the lower one better?

I'd choose version that has less frames (i.e. more cut, that I think result in lower threshold value)

I appreciate the response but I think you misunderstood my question. Both files are almost identical, 1 frame total difference, right at the start. Which preferred hybrid threshold, high (1.93) or low (1.68), should I use? What do the numbers mean?

To know exactly what this value does please read help file for Decimate() function of Decomb (AutoGK/filters/Docs/DecombReferenceManual.html)
Its not obvious what's gonna look better (its an estimation on 10% of the source anyway, so...)
