i need to edit several mpeg2 files from dvds, so the manual process is to create eg one single 7 gig stream instead of seven 1 gig streams with dvddecrypter and edit that one file then.
my question: is there a program (like a layer between dvd and editing program or player) which can mount a dvd and provide it's vob files as one single mpeg2 file instead of all of them separately? that way i could edit the files directly from dvd.
thanks for info.

Hi-
I'm not sure if this is what you want, or if it answers the question or not, but in the DVD Decrypter Tools Tab is the option not to split the Vob Files in either File or IFO Modes.

thanks manono,
i know about that option. but that would mean that i would have to process every dvd with dvddecrypter first. i thought more of a avisynth style where i put an mpeg2 into a conversion/editing/playing program where file.mpg = selected video and audio of (file1.vob + file2.vob + file3.vob), ie one symbolic or virtual large file consisting of several files - which aren't combined physically.
tools like anydvd or daemon tools should be theoretically able to provide such kind of processing, unfortunately they can't now.
the abovementioned method would eg allow every mpeg2 editor to process dvds as well, so they wouldn't need explicit dvd support.

I've used filemerger to join files and it seems to do a good job. If you only want to cut out some of the parts you can do this in an authoring software such as Tmpgenc dvd Author.

U can just use DOS to combine the VOB's
"copy vob1.vob+vob2.vob+vob3.vob fullvob.vob"

Depends on what kind of editing you refer to. Maybe you don't need them to be one file. DGindex allows you to make a dv2 file for all the separate files that you can afterwards use for avisynth or encoders that support this input.

@Lofi
Hi!
Alkthough your stated desire isn't all that clear, you should be able to use DVD Shrink's "Re-author" mode to view the DVD's movie as one continuos file and do limited editing on it...
