View Full Version : ifoedit split dvd warning: an illegal navigation command...

I have split many dvd's and never had this problem. the movie is 20,000 leagues under the sea. I am using ifoedit v0.971. I split the movie right in the between chapter 8 and 9. I edited disc one and it works fine. When I edit disc two and try to preview it crashes with the illegal navigation comand warning. I edited VIDEO_TS.IFO\VMGM_MAT\First Play PGC . I selected to (JUMPTT) jump to Title 1. It still crashes with the error. I have also tried jumping to a chapter or to the menu but always get the error. The navigation window in ifoedit says that the video tried to go to title 2 when it crashed. If I select title 1 from the drop down window it plays the movie. pgcedit says that title 2 and 3 are dummy titles and they are located in VTS_01 the same as title 1.

Here are a list of the pre commands for titles 1, 2, and 3. Can someone tell me where and how to edit to jump right to the video in title 1?

Your jump to title 1 executes the following code:

1. Sets GPRM(0) to 0

2. Checks if GPRM(9) = GPRM(0) - it does because on insert all GPRMS are 0. So it jumps to VMGM PGC 2. What happens there is anyone's guess.

Try eliminating line 2 of the pre-commands. That should play. Note: It will pick audio and subtitle streams 0 (meaning no subbies will be displayed - bad if you want a forced or any other subtitle stream to play). If you want different streams to play then you also need to edit line 4 and 5 to the streams you want (check these out in the domain stream attributes of PgcEdit's PGC editor).

Note - after the DVD finishes it will go to VMGM PGC 7. Again, what happens there is anyone's guess, but usually it will go through some bits and pieces, play some warnings and get back to a menu. In this case, I don't suppose you have a menu. Maybe a dead stop (exit) is the best thing for you here unless you have the menu and some extras on the second disk.

Thanks Blutach! Eliminating line 2 did the trick. The movie plays. Any attempt to use the munu relults in a lockup but there are no features there to access. When the film ends it results in an exit but that also is ok with me. At least it plays now and I can change the audio on the remote if I need to.

Peace.
