hi.
i have virtual dub, and i captured a soccer game from tv, and the quality is very good. (i used mjpeg 18 q )
the problem is, that i dont know how to encode it to divx to look good al low bitrate...
is posible ?
or i need some filter, and what filters ?
thanks for help...

ps: for low bitrate i mean from 200kbps to up to 400. is this enough ?
the resolution is: 384 x 288 @ 25 fps
thanks..

naw thats not enough, especially sports usually takes up lot of bits... try to do a quant based encoding (disable profiles) and use q=4, that should give you a rough idea of the minimum bit rate you could use.

uh, i get around 1800kbps, and the quality is nice.
the problem is that: i wannt to share this soccer game in emule, so people can download from me, and i dont have enough fast conection to have a big file...
thats why i needeed low bitrate, but i see that is imposible.....
thanks...

if you want lower bitrate you could try to use even lower resolution and clean it up with denoisers/smoothers. but yeah, it stays sports :S

nice, i used these filters:
2:1 reduction high quality
then resize (bilinear) to 320x240
Msu denoiser set to normal
temporal smother set to 2

and the video look ok at 212kb/s...
nice solution...
