dvd decrypter ripping mode?

i'd like to rip my dvd's to my hdd for playback. i looked at the dvd decrpyter guide, and it talked about the three modes the program used (file mode, IFO mode, and ISO mode). what are the differences? i will never need to burn these movies back to dvd or cd, i just want to play them on my computer.

i use media player classic and ffdshow for playback, so i believe i want to be able to compress the movies into xvid or divx, or some mpeg4 format, right? can all that be done w/ dvd decrypter? thanks for the help, and sorry if my questions are overly basic...

edit: ahhh, i found gknot and its guide. i think im set now. i haven't set it up yet, but it seems to automate everything for me. sorry about that...

File Mode decrypts all files from the disc (main movie, menu, extras), IFO mode decrypts main movie only, and ISO mode creates a image of the disc to burn it directly to DVDR(W).
If you want to play the movie only from HDD and you don't care about menus or extras, you should chose IFO mode.

If you use IFO mode, you'll destroy the structure of the disc.

The results you then get when playing back will be some what unpredictable.

Personally I'd use ISO mode, mount in DAEMON Tools and then play as if it were from the original disc.
