Hello.

Have an issue that I haven't been able to figure out or fix with info researched on the net. Hoping someone here can help!

The issue is this...

Whenever I try to use DVD2SVCD(ver. 1.2.2.3) to rip/convert a DVD to Bin/Cues, the process hangs after it opens up DVD2AVI(ver. 1.76). I have tried to open DVD2AVI up beforehand, this does not solve the problem. I have tried using both vStrip(ver 0.8f) and the internal rip routines to the same results.

This happens whether or not I use DS2RoBa(excellent program!).

This happens whether or not I have the DVD in the drive or have created an image and mounted it.

I pretty much leave everything at the default settings. Maybe only changing the Name and Title Picture.

Strangely enough... if I manually rip the DVD with vStrip(or SmartRipper, etc.) this problem does not manifest itself and the process completes without a hitch.

It only happens when I try to rip the DVD with DVD2SVCD.

So, as I've stated, I can work around the problem. I would just like to know if I can fix it so I can put a DVD in my drive and have DVD2SVCD do all the work.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Have you installed ASPI drivers?

Does it do this with all DVD's you try to backup(I did encounter a badly authored DVD once that would crash DVD2AVI)?

Thanks for the welcome ralphthedog.

And yes, I have installed ASPI drivers(ver. 4.71.2).

As I stated, anytime I have tried to rip a DVD(have tried quite a few of them now, both in the drive and Imaged/mounted) with DVD2SVCD, the process hangs when it gets to DVD2AVI.

But if I manually rip the DVD, then load it into DVD2SVCD, it works fine.

So, it's not like I can't back my DVD's up... I can. I would just like the program to take care of it at times.

Okay,.....what about Tylo's little plugin that allows you to use DVD Decrypter in place of vStrip?

I think you can choose to install it(or not)when installing D2SRoBa.

Hmmm... must not have installed the plugin with DS2RoBa... just reinstalled it with the plugin... and that has solved the problem.

Thanks ralphthedog!

But this begs the question... why won't it work with vStrip or the internal routines?
