Problem is with Win XP with SP2, installed before 4 mounths because of mainboard change (on empty C: ).
MBO is NForce Ultra based, I have 512 MB DDR, Pinnacle Pro TV card, 2 hard drive, 2 DVD (one is burner), ATI Radeon 9200 etc. Machine worked pretty stable.
After 2 weeks away from home, I observed that Pinnacles TV Vision freezes picture after couple seconds. Same happens when try to capture in Virtual Dub. I thought that capture card suffered because of cold ambient. But in Win98 it works fine.
Later I concluded that freeze appears only at higher resolutions.
By copiing files from one hard drive to other it starts well, about 30 MB/sec, but after couple seconds falls to 5-6 MB/sec and stays so.
In Win98 it works fast. It stays for external drives too.
Of course I reinstalled all MBO related drivers, but nothing improved. So, I suspect that some confusion happened in registry?
Is there some cleanup program for NForce based motherboards?
What can I try to avoid new install of many programs?
If someone will give me working tipo in 2 days, I will never say a word against MS and Windows here :)
