I'm confused why you use the resolution and bitrate menus to set the resolution, video and audio bitrate (after compression test) then you have to go into the codec (in options) and configure these settings all over. Which menu is used for encoding? And I wanted to know if single pass encoding is decent for DVD quality.

Doom9's guide explains it all...
In options you set default codec settings.
Bitrate is calculated by GK.
Resolution is being set by yourself.

Single pass.
I tried several times. Results were not so bad. But for "seriuos" encoding you definately need 2-pass. Anyway, it depends on your "acceptability" of the final result :-)

When you use GK, you don't actually set the bitrate and stuff in the codec, so you can ignore all of that, and do it through GK.

Single pass encoding can be decent if the quantizer is low enough. Remember you can't do single pass with GK, you need to do it maually :)
