Nics XviD Desperate Help

Ive looked everywherhe for Nics Xvid Codec. Not the newest version but xvid 16.07.2003. Ive had it installed on my pc and it works great. but cant fidn it for my other pc. In my system32 dir i can see it uses xvid.dll and xvid.ax. Heres a screenshot of what the Encoder settings should look like.

I need this codec because for some reason his newest one isnt following Gordian Knots sizes. And outputting huge and small file sizes when encodign is done

desinstall old version before installing new xvid version and you will d'ont get this problem.

complete desinstall = delete xvid_vfw.dll - xvid.dll - xvid.ax

Seriously, you need to not use that ancient dev-api3 build. If you are getting oversizes, then you need to search the forum about how to correct this heavily discussed topic. The new builds have significantly improved quality, speed, and featureset.

A suggestion regarding oversize, try capping your quantizers from 2-31 for I, P, and B frames. Ususally oversize is related to the encoder using quantizer 1, which should never be used... yet is default for some reason.


Anyway - do some searching and dont ever use dev-api 3 again :)

Wrong.

Like blue_misfit pointed out, it's an issue of the quant range (1-31) and strict overflow settings (5% each value). In case of oversize (USE THE SEARCH FINALLY GOD DAMNIT!) set the overflow values to 20% each.

When "two pass - 2nd pass" is selected in the encoding type box, press the "more..." button immediatly to the right of that.
There you will see overflow treatment.
