I have a movie, in Xvid playing it on my computer works great. However when burning it and trying to play it on my Phillips DVP 642 there is no sound, or the volume is low... what shall i do?

You could load the avi file in Virtualdub.
1. check "direct stream copy" for video so you don't re-encode the video
2. check "full processing mode" for audio
2. check "volume' under audio tab and increase
3. check "compression" under the audio tab and compress the audio.
4. I use "Lame MP3 at 128kbps CBR, I keep the audio 48000 or 44100 whichever the original is.
My Philps dvp642 likes these settings.
Hope this helps.

When i press "save" to save the file i get this error
Error Initializing audio stream compression: The requested Conversion is not possible
Now i know this may be due to me not having an mp3 encoder installed on my computer.
because i selected mp 128kbsec 44100
But after googling Lame MP3 encoder i havent managed to install it i get a failed message. :(
Thanks for your replies.

also i would like to say one thing im using the Lame MP3 48000 128kb CBR Stereo.
However, the 41000 128kb CBR Stereo gives me the error I posted above...
But im converting them as we speak about 20% completed?
What is the apromixmate wait time?

Depends on the speed of your system. Not long if just converting the audio. Video conversion is what takes longer.

there is no wait time simply just goes...
my computer kept screwing up so i used Dr.Divx to convert to divx from xvid, however it only converts at 5.5 frames /sec and takes approx 7 hours to convert.
