Hi!
I tested the new DVD Decrypter's feature to remove the structure
protection from IFO/BUP files. Afterwards, I checked what happens
when DVD-RB encounters this material.
Used software:
DVD-RB v0.79 Pro
DVD Decrypter v3.5.3.0
CCE SP v2.67.00.27
Used DVD:
The Forgotten, RC2, rental version (IMHO Sony ARccOS)
This is what happened:
The decryption process did its job and the resulting material could be
played with WinDVD6.
The DVD was reencoded and seemed to be OK (no errors in DVD-RB).
When trying to play it (using WinDVD6) at least the main movie
was broken. The timecode "ran" at approx. 2x and I got a black
screen. Somehow I was capable of fixing it (by scrubbing the
timeline?).
A repetition of this test led to the same result.
I then used AnyDVD v4.6.3.1 in combination with DVD Shrink v3.2
(the latter one isn't necessary, I know) instead of DVD Decrypter.
This time all went well and the reencoded movie was playable
(like it should).
It seems that either DVD Decrypter creates invalid IFOs when removing
the copy protection, or DVD-RB can't handle these files. Or both...
Unfortunately I can't provide any logfiles.
The "AnyDVD version" starts playing (WinDVD) up to 4-5 seconds
presenting a black screen, then the timecode restarts and the
movie plays as expected. Inserted dummy sectors?
