dvd2svcd "auth_call.exe error"

I downloaded and started DVD2SVCD. once I place the dvd into the drive and hit the conversion tab, I hit the disc and I get:
"auth_call.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. you will need to restart the program."
I removed the program and tried to load the program again, but I get the same error. I have cce 2.5 loaded and I have avi synth 2.5 loaded (if this is useful info for you).

There is also a dos prompt that opens up and closes quickly (unable to read the info. I checked the log and there is a script: WNASPI32.DLL 2.0.1.74

what should I do?

dvd2svcd fails to authenticate the dvd, most likely due to some aspi problem. This thread (with an answer by dvd2svcd himself) might help: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32658&highlight=authcall.
