emergency forced rip of failing DVD-R's (large collection, legally copied)

OK< I have a big issue now, and I am *hoping* there is a method to accomplish this with my current setup....

I have many DVD's that are back ups of my ex-girlfreinds (we purchased them together, and that's how we split them equally), and she is MIA, no where to be found

and now non of a particular media DVD-R are able to read or copy (but they play in a apex player, sometimes).

so, is there an emergency way to force the data off the disk, even if it means extracting bit by bit?

I have tried several DVD drives, and used several versions of DVD decryptor (best ever made BTW)

the media was an entire case of blanks bought from americal.com about 2 years ago, very blue colored dye. Not like that info helps, but might as well tell ya...

I am using a pioneer AO3 (the same burner that burned all these disks) and an AOPEN 1640 pro (2 of them actually)

I am willing to sweat and work hard to recover this lybrary, any ideas would be great

although, I found a fix for just a couple copies....

I just kept hitting ignore, retry, and cancel, and it made it to the actual vid stream, and actually worked.

but it is very flaky

damn, wish I could go after the DVD forum for being so indecisive back in the day with standards.

I hope we can still find a procedure for this though

Sounds like a typical bad media problem. There have been many posts of Princo and CMC discs becoming unreadable in about a years time.

Home-burnt DVDs don't last quite nearly as much as the machine-pressed commercial DVDs. The same goes for CDs, too. Read Andy McFadden's FAQ on this.

I think you are licked. You can't recover your data fully, if at all.

This is a problem that plagues many of us. Your last post was on 24 March; what have you done since?

You could try ISOBUSTER (google it)

Or try a newer DVD Writer (writers are better at reading bad discs) - Your A03 may be aging and having trouble reading the discs - a brand spanking new one (pioneer 109 for example) might be able to read the discs better. - Whats a few extra $ when it might save you from buying new copies (plus you get a new burner out of it :-)
