View Full Version : [AutoGK] choppy video

I converted my DVD collection of Father Ted to XVID using AutoGK. All episodes are fine except episode two. The video on ep. two seems choppy during fast horizontal motion scenes. It's hard to explain but it's like a strobe light effect when I watch on my Philips standalone.

I have a sample video here (http://home.comcast.net/~martincjose/ft_test1.avi)

Any idea what's causing this? As I said, all other episodes are fine.
Unfortunately I deleted all files so I don't have the log file anymore. I can re-do it if needed and post the log file.

Thanks.

Offtopic: Father Ted is one of the all time greatest comedies. You are not Irish, by any chance?

As far as I can see - it's 29.97 interlaced source(deinterlaced by AutoGK) made from 25fps source. Bad PAL -> NTSC transfer. Nothing can be done within AutoGK.

I first saw it on BBC America and couldn't believe how funny it was. I'm not Irish but I love the Irish accent.

Can something be done with GK? If so, any suggestions would be appreciated. I never completly figured out GK but this is a good time to learn.

Thanks

I'm not an expert in this but you can search forum for the keyword "repal"

I can confirm that the original source is PAL 25 fps interlaced (pure video). It does seem your best bet would be to look at threads concerning NTSC to PAL, and try to restore the original framerate. And indeed repal (I saw residual combing too by the way). Good luck :)
