About every second or third time I backup a DVD in main movie mode in Nero Recode (corresponding to reauthor mode choose main movie title in Shrink) I get this d**n errormessage in PgcEdit when I open it (see attached screenshot). Is this crucial to correct? because if I go ahead and just burn straight away from the folder where Recode saved the reauthored files I can play the DVD just fine on my Sony DVP-S735D standalone (then again that's probably a very forgiving player)... Anyway if it's so bad how come it's not corrected in Shrink and even still not corrected in Recode (which is developed by author of shrink and the Ahead team as I've heard).

I'd really appreciate some insight in this. Thanks in advance.

What attachment?

Attach images using www.imageshack.us

Is this the warning about there being no VIDEO_TS.VOB present?

But, sometimes PgcEdit gives warnings about things as well as errors (kinda like an orange light as opposed to a red one).

allright hosted it via imageshack now so you should see it here:

and - unfortunately no - it's not just about not having no VIDEO_TS.vob so im still quite puzzled about this ...

The message is as simple as it says. DVD Shrink has a problem and PgcEdit fixes it for you. Save the DVD and all is OK.

DVD Shrink is not undergoing any further development, but the author has said he will eventually fix bugs. In the meantime, this is your workaround.

This bug is not such a big deal anyway.

OK thanks blutach. But then - if I dare ask - what is changed or "corrected" by pgcedit? is it the ifos and what is changed in these.
Finally how come that bug is still present in Recode 2 which is quite a lot newer and more "bugfixed" than shrink - doesn't that surprise you too?

- phew! a lot of questions but I just had to ask ...

No probs.

Remember Nero Recode is written by the author of DVD Shrink - that's one reason why. It's essentially the same code!

Now what this error means is that in reauthoring mode, DVD Shrink makes an error when outputting its IFOs in that table.

Suppose a movie PGC has 3 VOBIDs. Well DVD Shrink will reduce that to 1. PgcEdit will fix the reference number in VTS_C_ADT. But the movie plays anyway, because when it starts it just plays cells 1 through to the end.

It's a tiny bug, which is nice to have fixed :) (Thanks r0lZ).

More info on this can be read here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45186).

Okie dokie thanks for the insight blutach.

Guess I'll let r0LZ' cool pgcedit program fix these errors till it'll finally be sorted in Recode 2. Wouldn't think it was so hard to do - elby's clonedvd 2 does it right only I favour Recode because its similarity with shrink and add to this the NeroDigital stuff which is a great package in my opinion.

Cheers
