Focus Or Tracking Error [Archive]

Recently, I have been getting a 'focus or tracking error' whenever I try to burn a DVD Image (2 Movies, 1 Ps2 backup, 1 Xbox backup). This occurs in 'line 311' each time (see #20 in Nero Log below). I've tried 'Record Now' with a pxhelper update, DVDDecrypter and Nero. I'm using an MSI DRA8 Burner(latest firmware; slave setting; new IDE cable)and Datawrite yellow 8x 4.7GB discs. I've cleaned the lens, re-greased the laser runners etc and let my PC cool and reboot before burning. I always get the same result 'focus or tracking error in line 311'. Any help Would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had same problems with a pair of Lg DVD burners one which was dual layer and set as master. After disscusions with LG and lack of support, changing IDE cables, power supply and several HD formats , I came to conclusion that I was having hardware conflicts with the 2 burners. I exchanged(under warranty) the dual layer for a pioneer Dvr109 and have had no problems since.

Thanks 1Bullet but I solved it. I reinstalled 'Record Now' And installed Tha 'Sonic pxhelper 500' update and problem disappeared. 'Record Now' was glitchy (hung sometimes). So, the reinstall worked - fingers crossed. I think I had a problem with pxhelper, which Nero was using also (see Log).

Hopefully your problem is solved, but if it not try burning media at half speed of disk 8X at 4X and 4X at 2X I found that that I had less failures. You may wish to verify data with Nero because even when I was getting sucessful burn from Nero some data was still corrupt and verification failed.
