hi !

I have a problem.

Burning at 2x with my pioneer dvr-105 usually
took about 30 minutes, but now it takes more than an hour.

I really don't get it.

This drives me mad.

I've tried to increase my RAM (1 go), using absolutely
no background tasks, just nero...and stiil more than an hour
at 2X !!!!

Seems like it's burning at 1x, although I selected 2X.

Please help !!!!

Thanks

check if the drive has reverted to PIO mode? Go to the control panel -> system -> device manager and check settings for your drive and your IDE controller.

also, 2x is no official burning speed and your drive might just revert fo the official 1x if you give it a medium where the firmware doesn't allow 2x burning, regardless of what you set in a burning software.

i've checked the device manager, and it is set to "use dma if available" so i think it's using dma.

It worked before at 2X, so what happened ? i don't know.
It just burned another DVD-R this morning and it took 1 hour
and 32 minutes !!!

Maybe I should try to set the speed at 4x so that it wil burn
at 2X ???

"Think" is not good enough ;) Below "use dma if available" you can see what is really used. What does it say there ?

it says : "current transfer mode : ultra dma mode 2" (on secondary ide channel, device 0)

I must tell you that i have a sata hard disk, and my dvr-105
writer is the only ide device

I had a similar problem and the only way I found to correct it was to Right click and uninstall the Secondary IDE Channel in the device manager from the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, I also did the same to the DVD/CD-Rom Drives by Right clicking and uninstalling Pioneer DVR-108, Restart and allow enough time, it will take awhile for the balloon pop-ups to run, to re-recognise and reinstall these automatically, this was the only way that my PC would set the correct transfer modes, it would not allow me to change some of them manuely. This info was not found in the Sony help index, but suggested to me by a Sony tech and it did solve the problem, and it has also fixed a friends PC when she put in a new burner that was haveing similar transfer mode problems.
