I'm probaly gonna get flamed and kicked for this, but....

I'm doing backups of my Angel DVD's.
Season 3 Disc 1.
The first 3 episodes encoded to 350Mb.
:-) Me very happy.

The fourth episode is 362Mb.
Hmmm.....strange, I'll read a forum about it.
Change quantizer to 20.
Re-encoded. Hmmm....362Mb.
After 6 subsequent re-encodes......362Mb

To heck with this. Time for DVD 2.
Same settings as the first 3 successful encodes.
422Mb. 450Mb. 407Mb....quitted as waste of my time.

Browse forum again. Screw it. Post my own thread.
This happened with XviD 1.0.3.
Uninstalled it and installed XviD 1.1.0b2. Exact same file size.

What the.....?

Bad search... use "oversize xvid" and read again :p

Set all three overflow-settings to 20% and see again.

Cheers

I had a similar problem recently... turns out I accidentally set the 1st pass to "1-pass encoding", so the 2nd pass turned out much bigger than it should have. U might want to check this simple mistake before getting into the more complicated stuff.
