I have searched this like crazy, but can't find any solution.

After being a Shrink user for sometime now I decided to try Recode.

I got the latest Ultra Edition of Nero along with the Recode package directly from Ahead.

Unistalled my old version of Nero, ran a reg checker to clean out any old nero instances, installed 6.0.0.8a and then 3.0.0.1.

I click on recode, it comes up with the three choices and if I click any of them I get a GPF error and Nero closes.

I re-installed the aspi drivers. I uninstalled 43. I shut off Norton. I am at a loss at this point.

The rest of the package seems to work without issues.

I have installed and uninstalled several times with the same result.

Running on an AMD 64 1Gig memory, XP SP2. Nothing overclocked.
I am not given a reason just the Nero has encountered an error would you like to send this to Microsoft.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi markrb,

I believe what you are experiencing is the same I problem I had when installing latest version of vision express, although I don't know what gpf means.

Look at this link (http://club.cdfreaks.com/lite/t-128062.html).
I am getting the exact same error. It looks like the problem is with a file called nendgui.dll.

Renaming nendgui.dll to xnendgui.dll will enable recode to work. As far as I can see nendgui.dll is used for NeroDigital.
This solved the problem for me at the cost of nerodigital not working which currently I don't use.

Cheers

Awesome thanks seems to have worked.

GPF= general protection fault.

Usually an attempted overwrite of protected memory by a program causing it to crash.

Also a catch-all term for a serious crash by a single program that does not cause BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). Used by old timers like me.

Thanks a bunch,

Mark

You're welcome.

I'll keep the GPF definition in mind for now on :)
