View Full Version : VOB -> Mpeg2

Hello,

After ripping a DVD of mine, I noticed that if I tried
to play back the VOBs using Intermedia's player,
the language spoken was the wrong one -- not my
native tongue.

I am wondering if perhaps it is possible to convert
VOB to Mpeg2, i.e. strip the VOB of unwanted audio,
selecting the specific language to use, rather than
having to keep the entire DVD contents in order to
play it back.

I expected there would be an answer in the FAQ list for
this question but I didn't find one :(

Thank you.

That's what DVD Decrypter's IFO mode is there for - it will demux the VOB to M2V and AC3 tracks, where you can choose to demux only the tracks you want.

np: Mikkel Metal - Mapsa (Crossways Part 1)

And what could I use to mux it into an mpeg2?

Just uncheck all the streams you don't want in the "Stream Processing" tab and set "Direct Stream Copy" for all the others; no remuxing needed. You might need to remap the audio track you want to keep to 0x80 if the player doesn't just use the first one it finds, but that's all.

np: Markus Guentner - Der Wüstenplanet (1981)

But if you need to make MPEG-2 to make SVCD (otherwise you could simply those VOBs, re-mapping to 0x80 [the audio track open by the movie player] the needed audio track with DVD Shrink), shouldn't you use the method 'VOB to SVCD by TMPGenc '? (Rip the DVD, open DVD2AVI, open (F3) the 1st VOB tith DVD2AVI, save (F4) a D2V project + 'demux to WAV' the selected audio Track. Finally, load (as Audio Input) that WAV file and (as Video Input) that .D2V project with TMPGenc Plus combined to DVD2AVI to use it as a frameserver (DVD2AVI.VFP, DVD2AVI.EXE copied in the TMPGenc's directory)?
