hello
i am looking for the best way to split a mkv file with vobsub subtitles. as it is a dvd-rip of a tv series, each split piece will be a (slightly) different size and so i am not able to use mkvmerge; as the file has vobsub subtitles, i am not able to use virtualdubmod. the option that i am trying to avoid is splitting the subtitle file and avi separately and then muxing them together (because it is a bitch).

any suggestions? thanks for your help

the easiest way i see is to split the file by the time the first episode ends and set "max files" to 2 in mmg, this way you get the first episode cleanly split in the first file and all the rest of them in the second file. repeat the process for each episode.

Or split the last episode first when setting "max files" to 2, that way the time values of the beginning and endings of the rest of the episodes remain the same, for if the first episode was split then the time values for the beginning/ending would change for the second episode and so on...

I recommend you just have your subs in SRT format so you can work with them in virtual dub and split them there as splitting them wiith mkvmerge is tedious and takes a longer time
