I always wanted to know how to change this, i know its really stupid but i dont know how to fix it.

I got a bunch of movies in dvd that when i play them with the home dvd player the movie starts playing without the menu.

I actually have to push the menu button on the remote to access the menu.

I would like to know if there is any easy way to make the menu appear at first play, and also why is this so common?

Pabloz, are these original DVDs or copies that you made? If they're copy how did you create them?
In my experience, it's fairly rare for a DVD to start directly with the movie, but I can't say I have a large collection! ;)

The easiest thing you can try is to open your DVD in PgcEdit and put a jump command to the root menu you'd like it to go to. But this may or may not work, depending on how your DVD was authored.

Otherwise, you could use the guide I wrote to jump straight to the movie (see my signature) and adapt it to jump to the menu instead. This means using PgcEdit in trace mode, putting a breakpoint at the start of your movie, then a jump command to go to the main menu. This is not guaranteed to work either, blutach will tell you! But if you get that far, we can help you some more...

It will usually work, except for the resume flag (if any) being already set (or there not being a "free" GPRM).

Better still - and MUCH easier - is to use 2COOL's JMP2PGC program, available on the PgcEdit site, in conjunction with jeanl's guide.

If you get into trouble Pabloz, post your IFOs and we will fix them in a jiffy for you.

Regards

PS. Jean - have you adjusted your guide for those paras I sent you about the resume flag?
