You mentioned the Xoro 4000 to have a ESS Vibratto II Device.
But as Xoro 4000 is the same as Siemssen 5000ND it should have a Zoran Device.

I had the Siemssen SCO 5000 ND - but I returned it because of a bad loader.
Actually I own the Xoro 4000 and the Tevion 6000, which also is a Siemssen SCO 5000 ND clone.
U can find pictures taken of an open Xoro 4000 with Zoran here: http://www.dvdboard.de/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87158

I've amended my chip-set information. And in my NeroDigital Certified Device Information and Links (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=94538) thread, I've included the DVDBoard.de forum link you provided.
May I ask what you think about the player. And how well does it perform with NeroDigital encodes (in .MP4)?

ND is the main reason, why I bought those players. As the three players are from the same factory, there are no differences in the behaviour between them.
There seem to be problems with some loaders - that was the reason, why I returned one player. Now I have two players with good loaders (fast, quiet).
All players play ND standard profile and also cinema profile (up the full pal resolution - 720 x 576) with AAC audio 5.1. Up to two sound tracks und two subtile tracks are supportet. I use this profile to back up my stargate dvdīs - with about 640k / 42mins they are damn near to dvd ;)
Also chapters are supported by the players. I have 7 films on one dvd/r /rw. The players need about 30 seconds to scan a file after starting it. The seem to read the chapters. After this, the film starts and you can jump fast between the chapter points.
If you change audio or subtitles the player stops for half a second and restarts at the point you changed.
I have one player on a 16/9 tv - the playback of 16/9 in 720x576 is fantastic.
The other player is on a 4/3 tv - playback of the same files produces "eggheads". Does any one know, how to set DAR/PAR properly the ND-.MP4-files?
I also tested kiss players and buffalo link theatre - but both players didnīt play ND .p4īs ... So for ND the Xoro 4000 is at this time the best player avaylable. Does anyone know anything about the upcoming PackardBell DVD DIVX 450 pro? This player is not sold here in germany. It would be interesting, if this player uses the same hardware-platform as XORO/Siemssen/Tevion or if it is a different one. The Packard Bell is sold in Belgium and France.

Frank

Thanks again for providing such detailed information about the three players. I was not aware they are all manufactured at the same factory!
I have to say, I prefer the XORO's design... so it's just as well the build quality is slightly better than the Tevion and Siemssen ;)

The Players are REALLY the same - the whole setup and look&feel is absolutely identical. If you only see playerīs output, you couldīt say, what player it is.
Every player has the tv-settings in the firmware (16/9, 4/3 PS & 4/3 LB). Those settings work fine for DVDīs but (on 4/4 TVs) not for ND. I aked Xoro to fix that bug.

USLOGIC 49$ player sold here in the US by Compusa stores uses Sunplus cheapset. I own one of these players. The brightspot of the player is its extremely smooth ff and rw through a divx/xvid file....it is the same as on a regular dvd, not your typical choppy rr/ff but a very smooth one. Otherwise it plays pretty much the same files that my Philips DVP642 (ESS VIBRATTO chip) plays.
My NeuNeo 308 player (Amlogic 3288 chipset) seems to be the most capable of all my players playing the most challenging files.

Hi!
If that is the same chipset as my Philips DVP 642/37, you may have to do the following:
For discs with .AVIs and SEPARATE subtitle files, the subtitles files MUST be named:
"Divx-subtitle 1.srt"
"Divx-subtitle 2.srt"
etc.
Acceptable subttile formats are .srt, .smi, .sub...

"Switch off" player (at the player).
Press and hold down the players "eject button".
"Switch on" the player.
After a few seconds the players CD tray might open. If it does, release the "eject button".
The above does not work for all players.

That is just dumb :o Why don't they fix their firmware to support de-facto naming standards? Like:
Movie.avi
Movie.srt
...or even better:
Movie.avi
Movie.English.srt
Movie.Swedish.srt

hi,
sorry i didn't post in a while,
but there is no good news about the subtitles on clatronic.
i tried a little soft SRT2BMP that converts avi files in divx files whit subtitles in it.
on divx player for windows it worked fine, when i turned on the subtitles it was ok, but on clatronic the file didn't play.
i tried the "Divx-subtitle 1.srt" and "Divx-subtitle 2.srt" literal, but still no result.
i didn't make the update from the official site but someone else did and still no result.
i'm begining to think of buying a new one.

i tried the "Divx-subtitle 1.srt" and "Divx-subtitle 2.srt" literal, but still no result.Sorry to hear that. I guess it's not the same chipset as the Philips DVP 642/37...

do you know what chipset the
seg dvh 480x
uses? i found out it doesnt like vbr mp3. and with cbr 160 kbps mp3 it frequently interrupts audio playback (but that may be of using autogk quality based mode). manufacturer:

Thanks for keeping us updated Max ;)
With having support for DVD-A and SACD audio the Vaddis 888 provides very similar features to MediaTek's MT1389xx chip-set...
I was hoping that by now, more manufacturers would have given us chip-sets offering high-def MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 file input and EtherNet connectivity support....
Shame to have/see Sigma having this corner of the market to themselves!
Cheers

Hi lm85,
Sigma's EM8475 chip-set is quite a few years old now, so I doubt it's still in production.
That said, as this chip-set was fitted to Sigma's Xcard (an MPEG-1, 2 and 4 hardware decoder PCI card for a PC), you'll probably be able to find one of these cards on say, e-bay.
Cheers
