Hi,

Ive been trying to follow this guide: http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/svcd2dvdr.htm

(the format im converting is SVCD)

and when ive got the to spruceup step my video isnt centred when I preview it.

ive followed all the steps and have all the separate files it lets me add them in spruce up, but when I preview it its like a third of the screen on the right has been chopped off.

ive looked on the original mpeg file and thats fine so somewhere along the line its getting messed up.

can anyone help me out here?

thanks in advance,
Ash

Best guess - the guide says the following:

"There's one more thing not to be forgotten: After compiling your project, you will have to start DVDPatcher again, load the first VOB file and reset the horizontal size to 480. Repeat this for ever VOB file. Do NOT forget to do this!"

The next to last sentence should say "every" not "ever". That's a typo by the author of the guide. Did you forget to do this? If you forgot to reset your size on every VOB, that might cause your problem.

i havent got any vob files yet though, in spruceup, i select the m2v file, and it loads all the stuff, then when i look at the preview in spruceup the right hand side of the screen looks cropped.

do you think i may need to export it then alter the vob files and then it may be ok?

yes.. as long as you do the last step (patch the vobs back) everything will be fine. having the wrong display width in the mpeg headers confuse the decoder but generally has no impact on authoring software when it compiles the dvd.
