I am trying to blank the credits of a movie but keep the audio without recompressing the movie, so the movie ends with a blank screen but the soundtrack continues to the end.

Can I do this by combining RB no compression mode and CCE compression mode? i.e. Do a prepare stage using no compression. Then in another directory do a prepare + encode using compression with the avs script modified to blank the video, then copy the desired (blank) .m2v cell back into the no compression version and rebuild it.

Would that work? Has anyone tried anything similar?

Thank b1m1

I did Alien vs Predator which has 11 minutes of movie credits at the end of the movie making it too big for an uncompressed movie rip.

Using the method described in the original post I recompressed the last cell from 250+Meg to 20Meg so it finishes on a black screen at the end but the music continues until the end. This allowed me to avoid recompressing the whole movie.

Hope someone finds this usefull

Interesting method. But why not use VobBlanker's motion2still function on that cell. You can keep the audio. If you select the option to work in the original folder, you won't even have to wait on exessive file operations.
