View Full Version : Replacing laptop DVD drive

I have an Averatec 5400. According to the Device Manager, I believe the DVD burner is a Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-852S.

Now the DVD drive does not read/write anything but reads audio CDs. I want to replace it with another internal DVD burner, either the same model or something compatible. Any ideas where I can find one?

Thanks

I usually just use Froogle, or PriceWatch.

Seems that drive is about $140... not bad for a slimline DVDRW.

EDIT: using DVD in the search instead of DVDRW yields a few more (better) hits.

Thanks for the info.

I did do a Froogle search prior to posting, but I guess I included Slimtype and hence no responses.

Now time for the shopping this weekend.
