HDTV encoding (say 1GB/hr) - best settings and AutoGK mod way?

So what are the best settings for HDTV transcoding - say a 423 minute show in 700mb or so (1GB/HR), Autosize, AC3.

Is there any "easy" way to incodporate these profiles into autoGK (the easiest way).

Using 1.10beta build of XVID. So so so so fast on my

3ghz P4 1:1 RAM 3-3-3-7 PC3700 1GB

I am getting now literally 12fps - this is 50% faster then the older builds with INCREDIBLE quality. Stunning.

To fit 423 minutes of video onto a 700MB CD, there is not much you can do to make it look good. It would give you an average bitrate of 226Kbit/s.

EDIT: Perhaps you meant 7000MB?

I think 423 is a typo, 42 mins = 1GB/HR. Works out to something like 3400kbps. Here in australia we get HDTV transmissions in 3 different formats (704x576p, 1440x1080i anamorphic, 1920x1080i). I always use different settings based on which format and what sort of material it is, otherwise you're not really going to get the best quality.

Yes, sorry. I was shooting for 1GB/HR (42 minutes in 700megs) and downsizing till it looked good.
