View Full Version : bogus multi-angles

Has anyone else found a DVD that shows a PGC as multi-angle, but there is no information in the menu / extras section?
I'm working on the incredibles - and the main movie shows multi-angle. When I preview this in PowerDVD, however, I see no difference in the three angles.
I believe Pixar is just trying to make reauthoring more difficult. Can these type scenarios be demuxed and processed as normal, or does one have to follow the multi-angle guide?

Hmm I'm looking at that dvd at the moment. I haven't looked into the multi angle part yet though. Is there absolutely no reference to the multiangle parts? Otherwise you coould decide to remove the multiangle part and just rip by pgc. Would make life much easier.
There's also the infamous 500 MB video_ts.vob containg nothing but black video on this one....
I'm just processing it by leaving in the multi angled parts, let's see how that turns out.
edit: looked at the angles and they are just very small files. angle 1 m2v is for example 27 MB and angles 2 and 3 2,5MB, must be bogus....

great.. more crap to worry about :)
as a general rule, what's everyone's opinion on the layout w/ these?
I can probably code something to ignore the angles but what to do about the angle cells in the layout?

Well the angles are just very small. Most are somewhere between 1 second and one minute. One angle part is 7 minutes. I haven't looked into it it too deeply yet, but I don't think it's worth coding something for it. I just did a vobid demux and kept all the angles.
Layout compiled fine. Dvd is too big unfortunately. About 20 MB, so not much to be worried about :)

yeah, you've got to love the 500MB video_ts thing..
that, and the previews. Every time I see those on a DVD, I know I can keep all of that space for the movie.
I just processed it normally, ignored the angles..

latest scenaid build I received worked flawlessly d3s7 :). It didn't dummy the audio but moved stream 3 to stream 2. Really nice. If only batchupdateifo could automatically adjust the stream value in the ifo it would be perfect :D
Bitrate was a bit overshot though, but that wasn't a biggie.

Looked into these angles and they are different. Mainly some differences in newspapers (in my case either english or dutch text) and some permanent subs that are different.

I just need to get off my butt and fix this.... as soon as I generate a file batchupdate will have something to base off :)

how far overshot? I think my overhead calcs for audio are slightly off... especially for DTS - gotta get w/ light_uk and verify

DVD was 20 MB too large. Just finished an other project and that was about 40 MB overshot. You need to get somewhat more conservative calcs :) No DTS btw
edit: oh and on a sidenote, safter installing your latest build dif4u's bitrate calc is also back on track

I already deleted the folder, so I can't tell you that anymore. Would have to demux again. I can do that later tonight if you want.
