View Full Version : Undersized image at 3.99 gb

I tried DVD-RB using CCE but landed up with undersized output at 3.99 gb instead of 4.7 gb. The DVD was a 7.81 gb DVD to begin with. I am not sure what is causing this. Here is the log:

Plese post your rebuilder.ini file and the first part of the rebuilder.inf file.
Also post the software versions you are using (cce, rb, avisynth, decoder)

My cristal ball tells me two things:

1st - you didn't use my installer :)

2nd - you are using the wrong version of the decoder (the right one is DGMPGDec Version 1.1.0 Final)

Am I wrong :D

Here are the versions that I am currently using:

CCE v2.67.0027
DVD-RB v0.77 beta
AviSynth v2.55
Decoder v1.10 (as came with latest Rockas installer 0.77)

Rockas: Your crystal ball seems wrong...at least this time ;)

I could not find a way to check the Decoder version but when I downloaded the decoder 1.1 package and compared the size of that one with the one installed on my computer, they are the same size suggesting it is version 1.1.

Here is my rebuilder.ini:

I am not sure what exactly the "first part of rebuilder.inf file" means but I presume you mean the first segment which is as follows:

Does the above suggest anything? Please let me know if any additional info will help.

Now that my cristal ball has seen your configuration she told me that you have chosen a path to CCE 2.70 TRIAL but submited as other CCE's version on the installer... :D

CCENEW=C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\CCE SP Trial Version\EclCCE.exe

open the file rebuilder.ini and change the line above to:

CCENEW=C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\CCE SP Trial Version\cctspt.exe

As long as the version you are using is 2.70

Why don't (some people) read the instructions?!?!?!

edit:
When my Cristall ball said that you didn't use my installer she wanted to say that "You didn't use it correctly" :D

Could be that you are using One Pass VBR. Even with version 0.78, I'm still getting undersized movies under 4 gigs. Try the multi pass encode.

borgraf

he stated using CCE 2.67 and the path says trial, so the EclCCE should be right. i'm with cd2k on this one.

Ok... he's using 2.67 but on the CCE Options he has chosen CCE SP Trial (that's why I made the confusion).

@earthlybeings
If you are using 2.67 you must select "CCE SP" under CCE Options instead "CCE SP Trial".

edit: The option "CCE SP Trial" was created to be used with "CCE SP 2.70 Trial" only.

Borgraf: You said what I was going to say to Rockas.

Rockas: I appreciate your comments and help and your contribution to this community but it feels like you are jumping to conclusions too quickly.

Regarding reading the instructions, I did reasonable reading as an average user before using DVD-RB but yes, I did not skim through all the posts ever posted in DVD-RB forum. Now that you have clearly stated, I know that when you are using CCE 2.67, you need to check CCE SP option rather than trial. Having said that, I agree with cd2k and borgraf and believe that this has nothing do with undersized images.

It looks like cd2k is probably right. I used "One pass VBR w/analysis" option which has still some significant issues to work out going by how much the image size was off the mark. It is also stated in the "DVD ReBuilder: Settings" sticky that "output size is not guaranteed".

I think jdobbs can really clear things up on this issue and on the status of how far the implementation of d2sroba has progressed.

Thanks,

Kasauli

Ok I found the problem. As you probably know, when you have both of those options selected you are reducing the bitrate in half twice -- in addition to the amount it would have been reduced normally. So, if the main movie was reducing at 70%, you would cut that in half (with the "Half/Half" selection) to 35%, and then again in half with the "Steal Space" option. When done you would be encoding at Half-D1, but at a bitrate that was 17.5% of the original.

So.... when the OPV prediction tried to set a Q value for it, there was no Q high enough to make it as small as it needs to be. The routine just kept looping creating a higher and higher Q until the value was greater than an integer could hold. Overflow --> error 6.

I put in code to limit the predicted Q value to its maximum. It will be in v0.79.

Could it be possibly related to this? It's in the end Known Issues thread.

@earthlybeings

Yeah! you may be completly right... I never tried to use 2.6x using the options of 2.7x so I don't know if there will be any "bad" size prediction but... he got the wrong setup.

One thing is for sure if anyone mixes 2.50 and 2.6x setups... the final size will be wrong.

I really don't have time to test bad configurations :D

Man... If the option for CCE 2.70 is "CCE SP Trial" and for 2.6x is "CCE SP"... what do you want me to test? do I really need to test?
now I wonder... why there are different options? maybe jdobbs just liked the menu with another one :)

keep it UP :D

You don't use the "Trial" version if you have the commercial version of CCE v2.70. You would use CCE New just like any other. The additional option is so I can tell that the ECL needs to have the trial header in it.

Sorry I forgot to add that... whenever I mention CCE 2.70 I mean 2.70 Trial... my mistake :o
