disableing hyperthreading

I keep reading that disableing hyperthreading could help in processing speeds.Could someone tell where and how to disable it.I have a asus A8V mb,an athlon 64 3.5 processor.

There is no hyperthreading in Athlon 64s. In Athlon 64s, the HT is hypertransport and it is similar to FSB. For current Athlon 64s, the HT is 800 MHz or 1 GHz. And the HT cannot be disabled ... if so, it would be like disabling the FSB.

The hyperthreading you speak of exists in Intel processors. And like kurt replied, it can be disabled in the BIOS which would not apply to your AMD Athlon 64.
