Hello all,

I have a AC3 delay question.

If I rip the DVD with Smartripper & DVD Decrypter the delay is -80m (thats what the txt file says).

If I than demux the AC3 track with DGIndex the delay is 0ms...

DVD Decrypter txt:
0x80 - Audio - AC3 / 6ch / 48kHz / DRC / English / LBA: 50 / PTS: 00:00:00.280 / Delay: -80ms

Smartripper txt:
Stream[002] X=[[0x80] Audio English AC3(6Ch) 48kHz ] [PTS 0:04:40] [Delay -80 ms] [@50] [448 kb/s]

AC3 after demuxing with DGIndex:
underworld AC3 T01 3_2ch 448Kbps DELAY 0ms.ac3

So, what is de right delay value?

Thanks in advance,
Trustie

what does REJIG say -> this can correct the AC3 delay while demuxinŽ

ReJig gives also a delay from -80ms...

So I guess that DGIndex is wrong with the delay value?

Thanks,

AFAIK, DGIndex fixes delays when demuxing.

Hmmm... I did a test.

I ripped the vob's with DVD Decrypter and than I demuxed the AC3 with DGIndex. The delay is 0ms (according the filename that was made by DGIndex).

I ripped the vob's again with DVD Decrypter, but I also demuxed the AC3 with it, the delay is -80ms (according the filename that was made bij DVD Decrypter).

Now I've converted the files both with HeadAC3he to a wav file.

The AC3 made with DGIndex starts with sound at 132ms.
The AC3 made with DVD Decrypter starts at 52ms.
So here can you see the 80ms delay proper.

But, if the AC3 from DVD Decrypter has a delay from -80ms, and you say that DGIndex auto correct the delay? Than must start the fixed AC3 earlier, not?
So on first thought DGindex fix the delay in the wrong way?

Or... what I'm doing wrong?

imho, it is the well known 'dropped frame' problem of any dvd2avi projects. read more about it here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=91608) (or in the dgdecode readme) dgdecode is aware of it so u can trust the delay values it reports. other 'demuxers' seem to neglect it.
