Anybody knows if it's possible to add a new button to existing menu? I can add subtitles to dvd, but now i want to add button in subtitle menu. In my subtitle menu is only english en french button. I wish that i could make one new button for Slovenian language. That will write slovenian in menu.

Is this possible?

thank you for your answers

Of course it's possible. You need to use DVD authoring application that's capable of designing menus. If you want a new button you need to redesign menu backgound (like add text 'Slovenian' somewhere) and also edit subpicture streams for highlight and select button options. If I were you I would replace one of the existing subtitles with Slovenian which would be much easier because then I would only need to redesign menu background. I would:

- split menu to cells with Vobedit
- save menu background to a bitmap
- cover one of the the existing buttons with my custom text
- save and encode bitmap to m2v
- open original menu cell VOB with Vobedit and "Replace m2v'
- join menu cells back, taking care of the original vob/cell IDs
- reauthor DVD with my new subtitle stream

First this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=555936#post555936) then edit the button command with vobedit or menuedit to set the right substream.

Msc_Alex, I've read your great guide about replacing menu backgroud. I haven't tried it yet, but I think it works, because I used those methods for another purposes. THANX!!!!

But I noticed a small note in the very bottom of your guide, regarding text in overlaying bitmaps. So, unfortunately, I have text there and I need to change it. Could you please give me a hint about how can I manage this problem?
Many thanx in advance!

Well i did it ones, but not with freeware, I had to use meastro and created a new menu with the old modified background and a new overlay buttons bmp. Placed the same buttons in the same order and compiled the dvd. The demuxed the menu vob and replaced it, then rejoin mock and strip etc.. (something like that) Maybe the latest muxman can help out, good luck. There is a guide (http://www.forum.doom9.nl/viewtopic.php?t=2620) on the dutch site by borry, but unfortunately in dutch :(

Msc_Alex, thank you for your answer. I had thoughts around your idea, the only thing different is that I use Scenarist instead of Maestro, but I think it's no difference.
Can you specify a bit the following:
I had to use meastro and created a new menu with the old modified background and a new overlay buttons bmp. Placed the same buttons in the same order and compiled the dvd

1. Have U created DVD only with menu vob or you compiled the whole movie? I guess menu vob only.
2. Have you done the highlighting (chosen the colors for "active", "not active" states of buttons) for your new menu subpictures or just added them?

.....thank you for the guide, but I don't do dutch at all:(

1 Only a menu
2 Yes is't very easy with maestro, drop your background, drop your subriped and "modified" overlay bmp. Make butons out of them and adjust the color setting for active inactive and execute.
Make them in the same order as the original (with menuedit you can check which one is 1,2... etc.) Or you will get real cool effects. :p

It was sometime ago so could be wrong on some points, I would like to write a guide in Englisch but don't have the time right now. Also I would like to use "all free/shareware programs".

ps there are translators on the net ;)
