Hello
I have a SONYDVP-S530D Region 4 (BRAZIL) set top DVD player, it has been working perfectly since I bought it back in 2000. A few days ago I bought the movie The Fifth Element Ultimate Edition, and the player wont read the disk 1 (Movie) while the bonus disk works fine. The player gives an error message saying the disk is dirty, but it isn’t, I can hear it struggling to read the disk.
The disk worked normally with my DVD-ROM and DVD-RW and I tested in my grandmother’s set top player and it also worked. The player can read all my other DVDs; someone told me this could be caused by a new copy protection (ARCOS) by SONY because de disk is from Columbia Tristar (SONY).
I have lots of recent DVDs that work with my player, can someone please tell me if this is a problem with the new copy protection technology or if it is an isolated problem? And if it is a copy protection issue should I buy a new player?
