Line/Edge Help

I'm encoding Evangelion, or at least trying. No matter what filter I try to use it seems to screw with the lines and edges. I would like for the lines to be dark, bold, and straight but they they keep coming out blurred and jaggy. It would be nice if there was a filter that I don't know about that would help this. I am trying to get around 233 MB an ep with XviD. I posted a screenshot of the source. I also tried using FastLineDarken but they doesn't seem to help at all. I am new at this and thanks a bunch for helping.

try to use a denoiser and a sharpen filter.

msmooth and msharpen are specially for animes but are very slow, see neuron2.net to download

they are many others denoiser / sharpen filters, juste take a look to :

I tried msmooth and lots of other smoothers. What I'm mainly looking for is something to repair or make the lines/edges better.

is this the restored Eva or the old crappy one?

the restored one shouldn't have many problems.

It is the restored version, they call it platinum.

but did you try a little sharpening after aswell ? the sharpening is to sharpen the lines etc.

you may want to try fastlinedarken aswell AFTER sharpening first if sharpening alone doesnt give quite the results you want.

just mftoon it
and make sure you get rid of that ugly noise on the background

I actually like the results I got with mfToon, but it was taking 15 hours a pass for 1 ep. Guess I gotta live with the slow speed.

my mottto=as long as it does good for the video...
it can even be 3 days per a pass

It might just be me, but mfToon seems to make everything jumpy or shakey.

then why not atleast TRY some of the things suggested ? try msmooth+msharpen and even add fastlinedarken after them if still not happy. of course there are other denoisers and sharpeners aswell if you find these too slow, however these are good with anime so you should atleast try them first.

Lol, simmer down. I did use MSmooth with mfToon. I didn't use MSharpen though because mfToon already did enough sharpening. Here is a what I came up with and I am pretty satisfied with the results.
