It's been quite some time since I've posted, so I hope i'm posting this in the right forum...
Recently, I've been working on a project, editing several hours of captured video. TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 was used to edit and re-encode the original captures into several sequential clips. For the sake of numbers, we're working with about 190-ish individual clips, to be split more-or-less evenly onto two DVDs.
I failed to mention that these files are MPEG-2 video with 48Khz MP2 audio...in case that's necessary.
It should be noted here, that not a single one of the individual clips have any visible sync issues. (The captures in question have permanent subtitles that sync perfectly.)
I'm required to combine 90-99 files at a time into a single file (about 3 hours worth, 3.4gig). TMPGEnc's Merge functions were used for this. At first, the resulting file seemed fine, but as it got further into movie, the audio began to get more and more out of sync.
The first thing I attempted was to go back and and join smaller groups of files, rather than the entire bunch at once. This is where I first noticed the problem...
The video apparently *did* have sync issues, but so slight as to not be noticed by the naked eye, when the clips were watched individually (or in small groups). The video and audio lengths reported by TMPGEnc during the merging, could be off by as much as 1/10 of a second for every 3-5 combined sequential clips. Obviously, over the course of 90-some-odd clips, this becomes a much more noticable phenomenom.
Which brings us to the question:
How in the heck do I fix it?
I'm pretty much stumped at this point.
Is there anyone who can possibly help figure out the proper way to join all this video, and keep it in sync?
Any help you can offer is much appreciated.
