View Full Version : Runtime error '6': overflow on Rebuild Phase

Craz
12th March 2005, 15:00
Hi,

I'm trying to encode a DVD9 with DVDRB v0.76 and CCE 0.67
There's only one VTS which needs to be encoded. Preparation and Encoding Phase work perfect.
But when DVDRB starts the Rebuild Phase it crashes around 96.6% with the error: Runtime error '6': overflow

http://members.lycos.co.uk/speerman/images/dvdrb12032005.gif

There are no extras on this disc that could cause problems. Only the main movie and scene selection.

I'm running DVDRB in CCE mode, one click mode, steal 50% from extras.
I've done many rips like this before.

V01001400001015.m2v is the last m2v file to process and is 103mb.

Below are my rebuilder.ini and rebuilder.inf files, if more files are needed to take a look at, I can provide them.

Sorry.. dont have any useful ideas..

however may be helpful if you provided the title of the dvd. did you do pre-processing?

Craz

Didn't do any preprocessing. The title is a dutch theatre disc, Kommil Foo if it can be of any help. It's part of a 3DVD Boxset and I didn't encounter any problems with the other 2 discs. So I guess it's not some pain in the ass security protection.

In fact this disc was giving problems getting ripped in the first place, but I wasn't sure if that was related since the "pack header" warnings can be ignored as I read in several threads here.
Now I know you can not (always) ignore that, because I did a mock rip (or something) in IFOedit and now it seems to be corrected.
At least DVDShrink can get over it and make an uncompressed ISO out of it, where it could not on the original ISO (gave an error at the end: illegal data found in VTS_01_6.VOB or just crashed because out of memory while there was plenty of space still available - 20GB)

So I'm processing the new rip once more to see if it's really solved at last :)

I'll let you know how it turns out!

Still the same error this morning :(
I'm out of ideas here...

Is there a way to fix a bad vobfile so it won't give me an overflow message at the end ? It's the last vob file of the VTS that gives the problem. It's also the last m2v file which gives the error. Maybe a way to fix this m2v file ?

DVDShrink gave also an error at first, but after the mock strip DVDShrink was able to do a backup of the disc (using no compression). But DVDRB still doesn't like the last vob file it seems :(

So you have a problematic disc, with ripping problems.
You were not able to process it with Shrink until you made a mock strip with IFOEdit

And you say it was an unprocessed source!!!

Apparently you have a source with authoring process and thats the reason RB errrors. So before blaming RB, try correcting the source.

The mock striping was a step in that direction.

Other suggestions

Do an actual shrinking with Shrink, maybe at 98%, before trying RB

It is important what you have in that last VOB or it can be blanked?

Try using VOBBlanker to process the DVD

Try DVDRemake to reauthor

Use Shrink to do a movie only backup, and if yet too big, try with RB

Hi pg55555,

Thank you for the tips, certainly gonna try them out.
Reason why I didn't do a real shrink with dvdshrink is because I'd like to use CCE for my rips. Only tried DVDshrink to see if it would give the same problems.

The last vob file is important since it's the last vob of the main movie.
Also thought about trying to run it through DVDremake to see if it corrects any errors on the disc.

Will keep you updated!

Just tried to run the dvd through dvdremake and save the disc again there.

Then running it trough DVDRB again (2pass) but still same error. :(
This I only have 9 m2v files in stead of 15 and it still crashes in the last m2v file (9th m2v file in this case).

When I look at the resulting VIDEO_TS folder it looks very much complete (4.32GB) but it hangs when it should pass on to the last vob file for playback.

Can vobblanker fix errors in a vob as well besides just blanking it ?

The dvdrebuilder.log in case it might be usefull to get an insight.

Please document the problem in accordance with the instructions here. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=91423) I need an organized description and data so I can work on it.

Just did a perfect backup with automatic compression in DVDShrink.
But I'd rather get it done by DVDRB since it's my favorite tool for backups (I like the CCE way and the easy way of DVDRB).

@jdobbs: reason I didn't post in that thread was because my source was giving problems (some weird things going on in VTS_01_6.VOB). But now DVDShrink can process my ISO file and DVDRB cannot, I'm not sure what is still causing problems.

If you still want me to give you full info like stated in the topic of yours, let me know and I'll do that tomorrow.

I've tried the ISO that DVDShrink could handle using the BIG 3 method and that works fine as well.

So maybe this could still be a tiny bug in DVDRB (besides the fact it was a problematic source in the first place) ?

I'll post all needed info in your topic jdobbs, then you can still decide to look at it or not.

@Craz

This will not solve your problem but I'd like to give you some advices.

1st. You really should update the skin (you are still using my first one and I'm not very proud of it :)) menu Sknin->Rewrite Defaults

2nd. I've seen on the other thread that you're still using "MPEG2Dec3dg.dll"... why don't you update to DGDecode.dll v1.1.0?

3rd. You are using AviSynth 2.5.2... I think you can update to (at least) 2.5.5

4th. Have you tried to mannually re-encode the file V01001400001015.m2v ?

keep it UP

Craz
21st March 2005, 19:52
1. Updated that now ;)
2. Never tried it (why change a working setup?)
3. I'm using this version since I've had problems with upgrading to the latest version of AviSynth in the past. When I upgraded I got an error about an incorrect framesize on each dvdtitle I tried.
4. No I haven't, I'm know a few things but reencoding a single m2v goes beyond my knowledge ;)

Rockas

1. I think you'll find the new one better :)

2. Well... It's faster :) - If you have any troubles with configurations... just use my installer ;)

3. I've been using 2.5.5 with no problems... you can download "my" version on dvdrebuilder.com

4. all you got to do is to locate a file named "V01001400001015.avs" on you working directory and load it into CCE and hit "encode".

I understand in this way CCE will encode in CBR by default. It will work to verify that CCE can encode the file.

Afterwards you can modify the CCE settings to match RB (VBR, average bitrate) to get the size you are looking.

Other option: Try doing the whole project in OPV mode.

jdobbs

CCE won't necessarily encode as CBR. It will encode based upon the template that you have chosen when you open the AVS.

I don't know what support you have seeked with regards to DVD Decrypter's "pack header" warnings, but try updating DVD Decrypter to the latest version. These "pack header" warnings seem to show up when many protection systems are encountered. It seem unlikely that this dutch theatre disc would be protected with ARcoSS or the like, but it is worth a shot. Also, try checking "Detect mastering errors" in DVD Decrypter to force it to perform a CSS keysearch in every cell. I don't know if that is relevant, but it came to mind.

The template you mention, is it the ecl file?

jdobbs
24th March 2005, 20:26
No. It will open at whatever you have set up under the active template. If you haven't modified it the "Standard" template is set to 1 pass CBR (that can be changed). But there could be any number of templates listed (you can create them) and all the CCE settings (not just VBR/CBR/OPV) are included in a template. Any one of the templates you have listed could be selected (the one you selected last) -- and the one selected is used when you open an AVS.

To add a new template just click on Standard and save it as a different name (after you've made as many changes as you find necessary). I have templates set up for FILM 4:3, FILM 16:9, NTSC, DV Source...

An ECL loads parameters independent of the template. But if you load an AVS and save it as a project, the settings in the ECL will match whatever was in the template during the load (unless you change the settings before saving).

pg55555
24th March 2005, 20:51
Ok, I understand (sort of:) )
So, As I have never set any alternative template in CCE (I use it only with RB, wich takes care of all those issues:D ) when I load an AVS file, it uses my unmodified standard template: CBR 1 pass.

Thanks Master
