DVD2ONE 1.52.

Merge has never failed before. I was trying to merge the bonus title on a DVD into the main title, just before the closing credits. Its a music DVD.

(1) The main title is widescreen anamorphic (16x9) NTSC.
(2) The bonus title is letterbox (4x3) NTSC.

This was my first realization that DVD2ONE will not allow the two different display types to merge. So, I guess you can not mix 4x3 with 16x9 titles and that is why it failed. Therefore, I am going to convert the bonus title (4x3) into a (16x9) display type.

I tried using TMPGEnc to create 16x9 conversion and it works. Unfortunately, I have not been successful getting a dupliction of 1.85:1 Anamorphic from 1.85 Letterbox.

Thanks,

I just did a test with TMPGEnc and by using the VIDEO ARRANGE METHOD of "NO MARGIN, KEEP THE SAME ASPECT RATIO", I get a duplication of the letterbox 4x3 converted to anamorphic 16x9. If I'm off base, please inform me of my error.

Thanks,

when you tried to join with dvd2one,did you try both seamless and/or non seamless?

when you say it "failed" do you mean that the program refused to go forward, crashed or the resulting files wouldnt play?

I have joined different aspect ratios in the past and after reading your post i tried it again with ver.1.5.2 and it still works.

It may be something other than aspect ratio.

DVD2ONE gave an error when I tried a seemless join. The main title is the first one and its 16x9. When I tried to join the bonus title, it would not even show that it exists, like it failed a criteria test to even be presented as a candidate for a join.

These two would not join:

(1) 1.85:1 Anamorphic NTSC 16x9 title
(2) 1.85:1 Letterboxed NTSC 4x3 title

I converted the leterboxed title by first converting it to avi and inputing to TMPGEnc and created 16x9, then I authored with DVDLAB. Finally I did the join and it worked.

JMo62:

All the chapters that get seemlessly joined should be homogenous in video and audio. All 4x3 or 16x9, but no mixing. The audio should be the same. All LPCM or Dolby or DTS, for example. I think you can mix Dolby 2.0 with Dolby 5.1 and not break any rules.

My crude receipe for converting a letterbox 4x3 1.85:1 NTSC DVD title into anamorphic 16x9 1.85:1 aspect ratio.

(1) DVD2AVI for creating an AVI project and strip audio.
(2) Use VFAPI to create the pseudo AVI file that gets frame-served.
(3) TMPGEnc to create an output MPEG-2 as NTSC 16x9 from frame -erved 4x3 source.
(4) Under Settings make VIDEO ARRANGE METHOD equal "NO MARGIN, KEEP THE SAME ASPECT RATIO", otherwise you will end up with a different aspect ratio.
(5) Bring up DVDLab (or comparable authoring program) and slap the generated MPEG-2 and audio files together.
(6) DVD2ONE will now allow a seemless join of the newly converted title.

Well, it worked for me. <g>
